When We First Met - Netflix Original

Ah, Romantic comedies. Giving girls unrealistic expectations of love since the dawn of the silver screen. The early 2000's did it best in my opinion, and as a young teenager growing up in a small town, they were like the grown up version of fairy tales. Because if there's one thing you can count on in the movies is that the guy will always get the girl and they'll live happily ever after. While the netflix original When We First Met is technically not a 2000's era rom-com, it still retains all of the soapy clichés and awkward meet-cutes that a person could hope for.
Speaking of meet-cutes, that's basically the entire premise of the movie, a chance to redo their first meeting over and over again. It's like Groundhog Day mashed with Fifty First Dates & Hot Tub Time Machine. Except there's no memory impairment & the time machine of choice is an old photo booth.

With Alexandra Daddario, Adam Devine, and Robbie Amell rounding out the cast, I'll admit that I didn't know what to expect from this Netflix's latest movie entry. In all honesty, I thought I'd have a harder time getting into this movie, mainly because its hard for me to picture Adam Devine as anything other than the goofy best friend, let alone as a romantic lead, but he was surprisingly sincere. By the end of the movie he actually had me rooting for him! Thats a tough feat for someone who grew up watching the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Reynolds sweep girls off their feet.

Full Disclosure, if you're going into this thinking it will be as cringeworthy as Netflix's attempt at a Hallmark Christmas Movie, you'll either be extremely disappointed (if you're the kind of person who genuinely loves that kind of thing) or pleasantly surprised by how much better When We First Met actually is! Granted, its not Oscar worthy, its probably not even People's Choice material, but it's a cute movie for a rainy day. All in all, I'd say watch it. While its not as legendary as How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days or The Proposal, its a great little movie to put on when you've got nothing better to do and are in need of some light hearted fluff to warm your soul.

So what do y'all think? Are you willing to give it a chance? Or have you already seen it? Let me know in the comments section below!
