My Current Obsessions

1. Marvel's Daredevil

Topping off the list is the Netflix Original - Daredevil. Starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock - a blind, but incredibly talented vigilante - Daredevil has the grittiness and dark themes of shows like Jessica Jones and Gotham. Unlike the majority of Marvel's film and television entries, Daredevil does not consist of overly-choreographed fights, skintight suits, and giant explosions. I'm only about halfway through the first season, but the honest integrity of Cox's Murdock and the comedic timing of Elden Henson's Foggy (along with the quiet confidence of Rosario Dawson's Claire) sets the perfect balance of heroism, desperation, and friendship. This show is definitely a must-watch.

2. UNC Chapel Hill's Luke Maye

Following in close second, is the hometown hero that everyone is talking about, Luke Maye. Number 32 for the Carolina Tar Heels basketball team, Luke started the season as a walk-on sophomore. He's spent the majority of his life in Davidson, NC where he participated in many sports (he and my younger brother used to play baseball together) and on March 26, 2017 he scored the game-winning shot (with 0.3 seconds left in the game) against Kentucky - cementing the Tar Heels' spot in the Final Four. The replay is definitely worth the watch, as well as the countless reaction videos (my favorite's the Kentucky fans in a bar).

3.  Low-key Weddings

On Saturday, March 25, 2017 I attended the wedding of my friends Alyssa & Tim. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony that was accompanied by multiple pauses for worship. To see the happy couple at the altar worshipping alongside the hundred or so people in attendance was awe inspiring. Following the ceremony they served cupcakes as we were encouraged to shop the local organizations invited by the couple (these organizations are major supporters of nonprofits in the community). What was amazing, however, was the fact that Tim & Alyssa didn't want us to shop for them but for ourselves. It was a nice touch to such an amazing and low-key wedding!

4.  Patisserie Cafe's California Sandwich

An amazing combination of French bread, roasted turkey, brie, sprouts, and a peach dijon - this sandwich is to die for. Available at either of the two Mooresville locations, I've been eating this masterpiece since middle school. The cafe itself is a local hotspot for brunch and lunch, Family-owned since its opening over 15 years ago, it serves as a great place for lunch with your girlfriends or a brunch date with a cute guy. Seriously though, the California sandwich is amazing.

5. The BB&T Ballpark

Finishing off our list at number five is the new Knight's stadium in downtown Charlotte. It is truly spectacular. I recently attended my first game there, UNCC vs. NC State. There are no words that can describe the view from the stands as the sun sets over the city. The game itself was fairly upsetting for UNCC fans as they didn't score until the fifth inning, but the sight of the city from the ballpark made the loss worthwhile.
